About Cruz Painting and Construction
When Sergio founded Cruz Painting and Construction in 2016, he had spent years watching contractors rush through jobs. He'd see homeowners settle for work that was technically done but felt incomplete—corners cut, details overlooked, communication sparse. He knew there was another way.
The early days meant taking on everything himself. A bathroom remodel here, painting jobs there, learning the structural side of roofing, then gutters, then flooring. He traveled across the United States working alongside experienced contractors, studying how they approached problems, how they talked to clients, what separated good work from work people actually trusted. Each project taught him something his own team would later rely on.
The greater Indianapolis area became home for that vision. Not because it was the biggest market, but because it felt right to build something real there—to show that a minority-owned contracting firm could deliver the kind of integrity and attention that larger operations claimed but rarely delivered.
We learned early that bilingual communication isn't a feature—it's a necessity. When you're working in someone's home, making decisions about their kitchen, their basement, their roof, they need to understand every step. Not just English. Not just Spanish. They need clarity in their language. That changed how we talk to every client, how we train our team, and how we handle questions on the job.
Being licensed as a general contractor means we take on the full weight of what we promise. It's not just painting or cabinets—it's the whole system. A whole home remodel involves understanding how each piece speaks to the others. We've seen homeowners burned by contractors who skip steps or work in isolation. That's why we show up with the credentials and the responsibility that comes with them.
More than a decade of experience means we've worked through problems most contractors only read about. A concrete driveway that needs to account for freeze-thaw cycles. Hardwood floor refinishing that demands patience and precision. Tree trimming that requires knowing the difference between what looks good and what's actually safe. We don't guess. We know what works in Indianapolis because we've done it hundreds of times.
Minority ownership isn't a tagline for us—it's how we move. Sergio built this firm on showing that excellence doesn't come from cutting corners or hiding behind a brand. It comes from skill, integrity, and clear communication. That's what we model every day.
"Every challenge is an opportunity to exceed the expectation. That's not motivation talk—that's how we actually work."
— Sergio, Owner
You'll notice we listen first. Whether it's a kitchen cabinet installation, a full bathroom remodel, or a basement renovation, we ask questions until we understand what you're actually building toward. That clarity shapes everything that comes next.
You'll see consistency. The same attention we bring to granite countertop installation, we bring to painting, roofing, demo work, and concrete driveways. We don't have tiers of care. Your project matters because it's your home.
If something unexpected comes up—and in construction, it does—you hear from us. Not after the fact. Not apologetically. We solve it, explain it, and move forward. That's what hard work and integrity actually look like on a job site.
If you're ready to work with a team that brings skill, clarity, and genuine pride to your project, reach out. We're here in Indianapolis, and we're ready to bring your vision to life.
